NORTHERN GRIT // MOLLY THOMPSON-SMITH // NZ IPA // 6.2%

The resulting IPA is silky, hazy and absolutely dripping in flavours of nectarine, guava and passion fruit at one end of the spectrum, and lemon, lime and gooseberry at the other.  

This first release in the Northern Grit Patron’s Project is made in collaboration with Molly Thompson-Smith, Britain’s leading force in lead climbing, holding 6 national titles. By 16 Molly was World #1 in her age group and went on to become the first British woman win a medal at the World Lead Cup. All before going on to lead Team GB at the Paris Olympic Games. 

Outside of her sporting achievements Molly is an ambassador for the British Mountaineering Club, working to remove barriers for Britain’s Black population and encourage participation in climbing. 

To achieve the fullness of flavour, we utilised a couple of bespoke Freestyle Hops offerings in the form of Nelson Sauvin ‘Bliss Process’ and their Megaterps blend.  The Bliss Process is an innovative harvesting and processing method used for Nelson Sauvin hops, aimed at maximizing and balancing flavour by blending early and late harvested hops for a full spectrum of what the variety can offer. Megaterps is a specialist blend of Southern Cross, Motueka and Rakau varieties mixed with Phantasm to really transform the flavour profile of the beer and unlock a world of fruit flavours.
